The Cool Pose is described as the new ways African America males are learning how to cope with hardships involving race and discrimination. This reading explains how African-American men are learning that one can gain success through the use of violence, impatience, and hostility towards other individuals. The way they walk, talk, and express themselves, allow society to favor the young, impoverished black male. Not only does the cool pose bring them a certain sense of success, but also it brands a sense of individuality on the African-American members can identify with. The cool behavior also is a way for these males to hide their inner feelings based on their daily struggles. Without the help of influential leaders, such as Thomas Paine and his thought provoking writing Common Sense, this country’s independence would have ceased to exist. In April of 1775 the war began which would be fought for 8 more years to end British rule over the 13 colonies. The two paintings chose are quite different from each other in the styles alone. They stood apart from the rest for many different reasons that Will explain. The first painting that came across that stood out to me was titled Alone by Mashes Sepal. This was an original edition and the process that Mashes chose to use was Oil paint and the support was on a board. The artist used a representational approach with different values ranging from white to black. The first thing notice is a how the artist used the young man as the single mass in his painting. This would be considered the focal point of the painting. The tall young man whose face is covered with his hair, it seems as if he is trying to hide his emotions from the world. But with the colorless painting you can tell the mood is onto happy one. Mashes also used a technique which is called linear perspective, more specifically a vanishing point. The second original painting that stood out to me was a naturalistic piece that was titled My Thai Sunburned by an artist named Iris Scott. There were many reasons why this bright, colorful painting caught my eye and as read more about the artist knew I made the right choice by choosing this painting to list in my essay. Her website goes into more detail about the technique she uses and how by accident she came across In the year 2009 she moved to Thailand to paint without any interruptions. Iris used the colors trot the standard lour wheel which included the primary colors, secondary colors, cool colors such as red-orange, and warm colors as well. All are just as vibrant from the yellows all the way through to the blues Iris did a fantastic job at using optical color mixture. The painting is on the darker side but even with it Ewing colorless you can still get a great idea of what the sky is supposed to look like and there were clues as to how the weather was on that day. The young man is wearing a sweater, there are many clouds above, and the atmosphere alone seems to be like a storm is approaching soon, If there were not as much details in this painting I would have been left trying to figure out what exactly was going. The second painting is nothing short of spectacular, Based on the backstops that was given, I feel as if I was in Thailand right along with the artist seeing this woman pass me by on the bike. Both artists did their intended job, which was to lull me in and make me feel their painting through my eyes! This alone makes their paintings skillful Like have said before both paintings stood out to me for different reasons, but both are not appealing to me. If I was to purchase a painting I Would not go for the first painting. Would like to see happy, motivating, and colorful art pieces in my home. A good example of this would be the second painting, this art piece was very appealing to me and wouldnt mind staring at it day in and day out. It just puts me in a good place. The first painting Alone is not appealing to me for this reason, it seems to dark and it harbors to any bad and unspoken feelings. This was another assignment enjoyed doing. Before when would look at a piece of artwork never realized what actually went into each masterpiece. Now knowing the different elements of design, how many techniques there are available, and the history alone definitely makes me appreciate an artists work and effort. I will not look at artwork the same anymore! See that it goes deeper than just a picture hanging on the wall.

Learn More About the Science of Geology What is geology? It is the study of the Earth, its substances, shapes, processes, and history. There are several different components that geologists study with regard to this fascinating field. Minerals Minerals are natural, inorganic solids with a consistent composition. Each mineral also has a unique arrangement of atoms, expressed in its crystal form (or habit) and its hardness, fracture, color, and other properties. Organic natural substances, like petroleum or amber, are not called minerals. Minerals of exceptional beauty and durability are called gemstones (as are a few rocks). Other minerals are sources of metals,  chemicals  and fertilizers. Petroleum is a source of energy and chemical feedstocks. All of these are described as mineral resources. Rocks Rocks are solid mixtures of at least one mineral. While minerals have crystals and chemical formulas, rocks instead have textures and mineral compositions. On that basis, rocks are divided into three classes reflecting three environments: igneous rocks come from a hot melt, sedimentary rocks from accumulation and burial of sediment, metamorphic rocks from altering other rocks by heat and pressure. This classification points to an active Earth that circulates matter through the three rock classes, on the surface and underground, in what is called the rock cycle. Rocks are important as ores- economic sources of useful minerals. Coal is a rock that is a source of energy. Other rock types are useful as building stone, crushed stone and raw material for concrete. Still others serve for toolmaking, from the stone knives of our prehuman ancestors to the chalk used by artists today. All of these, too, are considered mineral resources. Fossils Fossils are signs of living things that are found in many sedimentary rocks. They may be impressions of an organism, casts in which minerals have replaced its body parts, or even remnants of its actual substance Fossils also include tracks, burrows, nests, and other indirect signs. Fossils and their sedimentary environments are vivid clues about the former Earth and what living there was like. Geologists have compiled a fossil record of ancient life stretching hundreds of millions of years into the past. Fossils have practical value because they change throughout the rock column. The exact mix of fossils serves to identify and correlate rock units in widely separated places, even in the grit pumped up from  drill holes. The geologic time scale is based almost entirely on fossils supplemented with other dating methods. With  it,  we can confidently compare sedimentary rocks from everywhere in the world. Fossils are also resources, valuable as museum attractions and as collectibles, and their commerce is increasingly regulated. Landforms, Structures and Maps Landforms in all their variety are products of the rock cycle, built of rocks and sediment. They were shaped by erosion and other processes. Landforms give testimony of the environments that built and altered them in the geologic past, such as ice ages. From mountains and water bodies to caves to the sculpted features of the beach and seafloor, landforms are clues into the Earth beneath them. Structure is an important part of studying rock outcrops. Most parts of the Earths crust are warped, bent and buckled to some extent. The geologic signs of this jointing, folding, faulting, rock textures, and unconformities help in assessing structure, as do measurements of the slopes and orientation of rock beds. Structure in the subsurface is important for water supply. Geologic maps are an efficient database of geologic information on rocks, landforms and structure.   Geologic Processes and Hazards Geologic processes drive the rock cycle to create landforms, structures and fossils. They include erosion, deposition, fossilization, faulting, uplift, metamorphism, and volcanism. Geologic hazards are powerful expressions of geologic processes. Landslides, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, climate change, flooding and cosmic impacts are extreme examples of ordinary things. Understanding the underlying geologic processes is a key part of mitigating geologic hazards.   Tectonics and Earth History Tectonics is geologic activity on the largest scale. As geologists mapped the worlds rocks, untangled the fossil record and studied geologic features and processes, they began to raise and answer questions about tectonics the life cycle of mountain ranges and volcanic chains, motions of continents, the rise and fall of the ocean, and how the mantle and core operate. The debate encompassing euthanasia includes numerous religious, therapeutic and sociologic perspectives. Jeremy Bentham, a philosopher from London, created the principles of moral philosophy called utilitarianism. People will argue that just because something makes someone happy, it does not make the action right. Think of it from a moral perspective, as this can be applied to various parts of life. Take for example theft. Is it wrong to steal millions of dollars in medicine to heal your sick spouse because you are too poor to afford paying for it? Furthermore, it isnt right to hurt certain people with a specific end goal to fulfill other individuals? Another protest would be that individuals trust that utilitarianism is excessively requesting. Utilitarianism infers that we ought to dependably act keeping in mind the end goal. Individuals that protest say this is excessively strict of a necessity. Exercise 11.2: Learning about Policies For this assignment, utilizing the resources given in this exercise as well as the information I gathered from the IT department where I used to work the following are my analysis: My analysis in regards to Security Policy is that whatever organization it is, it’s important to implement a sound security policy that defines what is permitted and what is not. The security policy boils down to outlining the acceptable use of the company's computer, internet, email, and any aspect of the system. It involves practices that reduce the risk of getting information into the wrong hands or preventing unwanted programs or individuals from disrupting service. This can be achieved three ways: One, Physical security by limiting access to a company's computer or networking device by housing critical device in a secured area. Second, Hardware Security which is network devices such as router & firewall that has a built in virus scanner or access rule.
